Professor Alain Gaudric is Head of the Ophthalmology Service at Lariboisière hospital and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Paris 7.

His main areas of interest are retinal diseases, in particular vascular retinal diseases and retinal surgery. He is a member of several scientific societies in Ophthalmology. In particular, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Retina Specialists (EURETINA) and the Committee of Experts at the European Vision Institute. He is a member of the Editorial Committee of the American Journal of Ophthalmology and has been awarded the Jules Gonin Prize by the Retina Research Foundation.

With his team, he has focused particularly on diabetic macular oedema, age-related macular degeneration, retinal venous occlusions and rare diseases of the retinal vessels. He is also well-known for his work on retinal imaging and surgery for diseases of the macula. He is the co-author of two books on retinal diseases and imaging and is the author or co-author of 150 articles on retinal diseases.
